What are the Benefits of Drinking Teas? ♥ Good night sleep…onto a winner!

Herbal teas…where do I start? Chamomile, peppermint, lavender, ginger, jasmine etc etc etc. So many varieties and blends, iced or hot, green, black, tisane, organic – the list is near endless. So let’s look at how the humble cup of tea can help us in our busy lives, starting with our erratic sleep schedules.

I hear a common theme with so many people…’I have trouble sleeping’. Whether it is getting to sleep, staying asleep or the quality of sleep, this is something we need to have squared away. I went through a stage of really struggling to shut off my brain, I was exhausted but just couldn’t find the ‘off switch’. I am a huge advocate for natural, herbal, non chemically infused products so experimenting with herbal tea was a give in. We are blessed to have so many varieties available, but where do we start? Tea specialty shops are onto this with so many having sample sizes. Best way to try a few out without having to commit to a huge supply of something you really don’t like. Or you can do what I did before samplers became popular and share with a friend.

My current favourite is Love Teas Sleep Tea with Valerian root, licorice root, spearmint, chamomile, passion flower & lavender. Smooth and slightly sweet with a nice mint finish I really look forward to this each night. Such a nice way to relax at the end of the day, infuse for 3-5 minutes in hot water and enjoy.

  1. Small point: it’s important to be careful with preparations containing Valerian root. They can have unpredictable effects. Sometimes I think it’s easy to forget that a lot of medicines have herbal ingredients.
