Out of clutter, find simplicity.
Albert Einstein
Welcome to my 8th edition of the Over the Teacups series. I am so excited to share my discoveries for you all to enjoy. This edition has something a little special and different…read on!! I have been thinking about work-spaces, and how we can make them more user friendly, clutter free and hygge. For those of you new to the concept of Hygge, have a look at my previous blog post What is Hygge? In brief it is about embracing a Danish concept of living well, togetherness, connection and an appreciation of enjoying the simplicity of life with contentment. I love this way of living and implement it in all aspects of my life. Now that I live aboard a yacht, space is at a premium and clutter is not an option – hygge is the only way for me!!
Let’s get started…
- De-clutter your work space
- Open all the curtains and windows
- Systematically go through each space
- Divide into one of 3 piles – Keep, Store, Donate/Sell
- If you are using it now Keep it
- If you know it is something useful and you will use it Store it – be careful not to hoard!!
- If you know it is something you won’t use or don’t need Donate or On Sell – no harm in making a few extra $$
- Give your work space a spring clean, freshen up your space

Making your space hygge…
- Rearrange the furniture so it ‘works’ for you, utilise natural light, avoid sitting in a drafty area
- If you have a view, use it – totally inspirational if you have something pleasant to look at
- Select an ergonomically designed desk and chair – you need to be comfortable
- Choose good lighting
- Add some personal art choices
- Add funky cushions
- Add a throw or shawl for a pop of colour and a quick way to warm up if it turns cooler; other hygge ideas
- candles
- fairy lights
- personal photographs in funky frames
- indoor pot plants
- blog stationery – check out Over the Teacups #7 for a great list of stationery items
- tea cup or coffee mug
- fresh flowers in a beautiful vase
- drink station – tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc
- Anything that makes YOU happy and comfortable
♥ Remember to make it YOUR space, less clutter means a more productive mind ♥

I would love to introduce Crystle Cromeans from Lady Moon’s Cottage. Crystle is from South Texas and as well as being a busy mama and wife she has a passion and calling for witchcraft! The good kind!! Crystle’s business has the catch phrase ‘Let Yourself Grow’ which is such a truly holistic and creative way to cover everything involved with her incredibly insightful and genuine lifestyle. I met Crystle through the wonderful world of the internet and we just clicked when I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with her over a video call a few weeks ago. She shared some amazingly personal and spine tingling stories of her beautiful journey, including dreams, visions, her sixth sense, and some pretty heavy experiences that have brought her to where she is now…an extraordinary woman who has a vision and dream of being a part of a higher power of witches, making the most of the doors of opportunity presented to her and embracing her true calling. Crystle mentioned her love of the moon which reminded me of a post I wrote last year Breath and Embrace Your Tea, this has a New Moon Ritual included which resonated with me again when learning about Lady Moon’s Cottage.
I felt totally blessed when Crystle shared a herbal tisane recipe from her Grandmother who smudged houses, made herbal remedies and teas.
Ruda Tea:
Superb tea for tummy aches, muscle stiffness, headaches and light headedness . Not suitable for pregnant women. USE WITH CAUTION.
- Handful of fresh Ruda, rinsed in fresh cold water
- Freshly boiled water
- Lemon and honey to taste
Gently rinse the fresh Ruda, place in a glass teapot. Pour the boiling water in carefully and steep for 3-5 minutes. Add lemon juice and/or honey to taste. Sip, relax and enjoy.

If you want to know more about crystals, healing, reiki, aromatherapy, herbal creations, plant magic and the universe then Crystle is the one for you. You can find Crystle on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok as well as her beautiful website Lady Moon’s Cottage which has some stunningly magical things to purchase. Namaste ♥

This is a timely post as my goal for the weekend is to clear out my studio (a one room wood cabin), which is currently being used as a storeroom for the whole family. It was built to be a home office for practicing bodywork. Since I can’t work due to the pandemic, my daughter and I plan to make it into a sewing room for the time being. I’ve always wanted a craft space. It will take time to declutter, but I’ll certainly keep your tips in mind to simplify the process! Thank you.

In lockdown I have used the kondo folding method and am 80% through the house. I still wish to drop two dress sizes so I don’t have to donate the last 20% But all that is done is neat and everything has a place, at least until The Husband explodes the shed and tools migrate into the house. I haven’t succeeded in organizing his brain and probably never will and my desk though it has been done very quickly becomes organised chaos. But no one is perfect. So cheers raise a good cup of cha and carry on. X

Sounds wonderful. We have similar men in our lives hehe. The chap os a wonderful man but pops things down wherever he fancies. So pleased you have had some organisational success. I’m looking forward to getting back on the boat and doing the same.

I blitzed the Motor home too, but The Husband has been doing some new lighting and you would think he needed every tool he owned to do it … But he is such a lovely man so clever too, I forgive everything. 😁
