I go to nature to be soothed, healed and have my senses put in order.John Burroughs
I discovered Sativa Botanicals early this year at my local River Markets. This chance meeting and subsequent purchase of their Hemp Fresh Complexion Tea prompted me to write up a review and keep in touch with the delightful owners as they were busy creating new blends.
I was very pleased to hear of a new exciting and deliciously healthy tea blend from Sativa Botanicals; Hemp Ginger & Paw Paw. 100% organic and ethically sourced, this blend is now a local favourite of mine. A delicate combination of Hemp Seed, Ginger, Cinnamon, Orange Peel, Honeybush Leaves, Paw Paw Leaf and Calendula Petals it has a very subtle aroma and a flavour that increases with the ginger tang as it steeps. I brewed it in my cast pot for 7 minutes which was a good length of time to infuse the flavours.
Hemp is the name given to cannabis plants which produce little to none of the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC less than 0.3%). The rich profile of nutrients, fatty acids, omegas, vitamins and minerals are why people are calling it a super-food!
Hemp Hearts are have a mild nutty flavour and exceptionally nutritious. They are also a great protein source and contain high amounts of Vitamin E, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulphur, calcium, iron and zinc.
Hemp may reduce your risk of heart disease, benefit skin disorders such as eczema, is a perfect source of plant based protein and may reduce the symptoms of PMS and menopause.
I am excited to see what this innovative New Zealand company creates next in their tea blend line.
