Sativa Botanicals are a locally based business here in my hometown of Whanganui, New Zealand. Whanganui is situated on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand, where we are blessed to have the ocean, the Whanganui river and several lakes right on our doorstep. Whanganui is an eclectic town made up of a population of around 40,000 people, with a wonderful micro climate of warm sunny days with the added bliss of the sea breeze. We are so fortunate to have a river market every week where an abundance of extremely talented people come to sell their wares. Amongst the hustle, chatter, clink of the blacksmith and divine aromas of a Saturday morning I came across two lovely ladies of Sativa Botanicals. What caught my eye initially was their smiles, and true interest in conversing with their customers. It makes my day when I come across passionate and genuine creatives. Sativa Botanicals have a great selection of products from beard oils to teas to hemp hearts full of protein. I was intrigued as my eyes locked on the Hemp Fresh Complexion Tea. I was told that as well as a divine, healthy tea it can also be used as facial steam once a week. What a bonus!

Hemp Fresh Complexion Tea is a unique blend of organically grown New Zealand Hemp Seed, Burdock Root, Lemon Myrtle, Alfalfa, Licorice Root, Peppermint, Nettle, Milk Thistle seeds, Orange peel and Calendula Petals. All of these ingredients are perfect for enhancing your skins health. It looks and tastes as wonderful and colourful as it sounds. The added peppermint was just the perfect accompaniment.

To brew this tea for a refreshing and relaxing cup infuse 1 heaped teaspoon with a cup of freshly boiled water for 3-5 minutes. I steeped mine for 4 minutes to start with and found this was ideal for my taste.

If you want to try the facial steam for a weekly self-love session add 1 heaped tablespoon of the tea to a bowl of steaming hot water. Place a towel over your head and the bowl and enjoy – so relaxing!
